A Day Around Bangkok by Boat

Tsabit Abdurrazzaq Mumtaz
Software Engineering at IDN

After spending several days around our usual area, we decided it was time to explore Bangkok properly.

This time, we wanted to visit several famous places in one day, so we planned a little city tour. And honestly, the transportation itself became part of the adventure.

We started by taking a boat to Pratunam. From there, we had to switch to another boat before continuing our journey toward Maharaj.

After reaching Maharaj, we continued by bus.

At this point, our transportation plan already felt like a whole adventure. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We eventually arrived at The Maharaj, where we found another boat that was more like a small cruise ship rather than a normal public boat.

And the best part?

The ticket was only around 140 baht, and we could use it to travel to several different stops.

So obviously, we had to take advantage of it.

Our route for the day included several famous places around Bangkok. We went from Maharaj toward Wat Arun, then continued to Chinatown, Sathorn, ICONSIAM, and finally Asiatique.

Basically, we spent almost the entire day moving around Bangkok by boat.

The first stop was Wat Arun.

Seeing the temple from the river was a really nice experience. The view was completely different from seeing it from the street, and the whole area around the river had a very unique atmosphere.

After that, we continued toward Chinatown.

By this point, we were already walking a lot and starting to get tired, but there were still several places on our list.

Eventually, we reached ICONSIAM.

And honestly...

That mall was HUGE.

I had seen big malls before, but ICONSIAM was on another level. There were so many shops, restaurants, and different areas inside that it felt more like a whole city than just a shopping mall.

We walked around, looked at different things, took some photos, and explored as much as we could.

But the problem with exploring a huge city all day is that eventually your legs start saying:

โ€œBro, please stop.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜ญ

And ours definitely did.

After ICONSIAM, we continued to our final destination, Asiatique.

By the time we arrived there, we had already been traveling around for hours. We were tired, but at the same time, it felt satisfying because we had managed to visit so many different parts of Bangkok in one day.

Looking back, the most interesting part wasn't even one specific destination.

It was the journey between them.

We used different kinds of transportation, changed boats, took buses, walked around, and kept moving from one place to another.

It made me realize how much there is to explore in Bangkok.

You can take a train, ride a bus, use a boat, or even just walk, and somehow there is always another place waiting to be discovered.

By the time we finally headed back to our accommodation, it was already late.

Everyone was exhausted.

My legs were tired, my body wanted to sleep, and I think all of us had reached the point where we just wanted to lie down.

But honestly, I didn't regret it at all.

That day was probably one of the most tiring days in Thailand so far, but also one of the most memorable.

We started the day with a boat ride and ended it hours later after visiting some of Bangkok's most famous areas.

A long day, a lot of walking, a lot of boats, and way too many places in one trip.

But that's exactly what made it fun. ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿšค
